One Testament

A Life of Faith in a World in Transition

This “Testament” is an account of a vocation lived under changing skies, interpreted through a scriptural metaphor. In the book of Job, a person of substance loses everything, endures misunderstanding, keeps his faith, and ultimately discovers restoration in forms unforeseen. Brian Brown illustrates how it is possible to maintain one’s own faith, without compromise, while respecting and learning from other religious traditions in the quest for a more peaceful world. The ONE TESTAMENT title was chosen to connect this work with testament books in Brown’s SEVEN TESTAMENTS OF WORLD RELIGION trilogy. The subtitle more accurately describes what this memoir book is about – A Life of Faith in a World in Transition.

Three Testaments

Tension between the three Abrahamic faiths often runs high. Yet for all their differences, these three traditions—Judaism, Islam, and Christianity—share much in common. Three Testaments brings together for the first time the text of the Torah, the New Testament, and the Quran, so that readers can explore for themselves the connections, as well as the points of departure, between the three faiths.

Notable religion scholars provide accessible introductions to each tradition, and commentary from editor Brian Arthur Brown explores how the three faiths may draw similarities from the ancient Zoroastrian tradition. This powerful book provides a much-needed interfaith perspective on key sacred texts of Western monotheism.

Four Testaments

Four Testaments brings together four foundational texts from world religions—the Tao Te Ching, Dhammapada, Analects of Confucius, and Bhagavad Gita—inviting readers to experience them in full, to explore possible points of connection and divergence, and to better understand people who practice these seminal traditions of Eastern monism.

Seven Testaments of World Religion

This essential comparative religious studies resource presents primary scriptures of seven world religions and reveals their shared heritage in Zoroastrian tradition. Completing the authoritative trilogy alongside Three Testaments: Torah, Gospel and Quran and Four Testaments: Tao Te Ching, Analects, Dhammapada, Bhagavad Gita, Seven Testaments of World Religion lays the groundwork for all studies of religious history including multitudes of derivative scriptures in more recent religious traditions.

Silk Route Religion Map

The SILK ROUTE RELIGION MAP elaborates on the final chapters of Brown’s Testament books in which world religions intersected long ago, in a quest of offering mutual respect again. This map attaches branches and roots to THREE TESTAMENTS: Torah, Gospel and Quran and to other texts written by the celebrated Canadian author.

Bible Sources Poster

The BIBLE SOURCES POSTER is a companion to opening chapters of the memoir by Brian Arthur Brown: ONE TESTAMENT, a Life of Faith in a World in Transition. The poster updates higher criticism of the last century, when Bible based academia, and students like Brian, began delving deeper to a profound understanding of Biblical texts we can now all cherish intellectually.
